A Song of Ice and Fire 30-Day Challenge: Day 29
(I’d like to apologize if my posts are sometimes not daily. My internet has sporadically been going on and off, and I’m not always able to post when I want to. In fact, I wrote this whole thing up yesterday and then my internet died just when I clicked submit. I think I fixed it now though.)
Lord of the Rings or A Song of Ice and Fire?
This question isn’t all that tough for me. A Song of Ice and Fire wins, hands down. Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy adventure, and it pretty much started the modern fantasy genre, but other than that, at this point, it’s a pretty typical story. A Song of Ice and Fire, meanwhile, isn’t your average fantasy tale. It’s epic only because of the characters and their own actions. It is very human in scope, and that is why readers who would never touch a fantasy book are as obsessed with this series as readers who devour fantasy for breakfast. That is why HBO picked up a TV series. That is why I have this blog. That is why we are all sweating in anticipation waiting for Dance with Dragons.
So, in short, A Song of Ice and Fire is probably the best-written series…EVER.
